from one of the emails i sent to elfie:
“i was waiting for the bus to go home, standing at a weird spot vaguely near the bus stop because that was the spot with the most sunshine.. and suddenly weifen came around the distant corner on her bicycle and shouted “DES!!! YOU GOT FLOWERS!!!” and i was like “WHAT??” and she shouted again “YOU GOT FLAH-WERS!” and i said “ME?!?!?” and she nodded and rode off to school”
yesterday was one of the best days ever because it was wednesday and wednesdays are free pie days (i had pie twice, again) and because elfie sent me flowers! 
and because it was one of the most gorgeous cycles home i’ve had here. receiving flowers is always nice… but it’s extra special when you’re waaay over the ocean and you receive probably the only live thing someone could possibly send over such a long distance without having to buy an air ticket. plus it looks and smells so pretty! it was a bouquet of roses and chrysanthemum and myrtle and ruscus..mmm. it’s been a day and i’m still smiling from it (: pictures of les fleurs below!
